Our sports medicine professionals use a team approach in providing medical coverage to athletes of all ages, levels, and abilities. These services are provided before, during, and after athletic events, both at the location of competition and in our clinics.
Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Focus on Physical Therapy employs an athletic trainer who will collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Also on staff at Focus is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. This is a professional who applies scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. The CSCS conducts sport-specific testing sessions, designs and implements safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provides guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Recognizing that this area of expertise is separate and distinct, the CSCS will consult with and refer athletes to other professionals when appropriate.
